BACKGROUND
FAQs
How did you start with music?
I always had an interest in music, even as a kid I would turn on anything that was on the radio and dance to it. As I grew older I started learning instruments and explored what my voice could do. I started writing in my teens, managed to get a ball rolling my sophomore year of high school, and the rest was history. I now self-write, self-record, and self-produce all my music under the artist name NAMOS.
Where did NAMOS come from?
NAMOS comes from the nickname “NickAmos”, which was coined by an old friend of mine in middle school. He always called me that whenever I saw him and still does, and I just thought it was funny and unique enough to be my artist name, so I just mushed it together and made NAMOS.
What is BikkoMusic?
To understand BikkoMusic, you are going to need to know what Bikko is first. To put it simply, we coined the nickname Bikko for our friend Nikko, and we took it pretty far by calling ourselves Bikko Gang. When I started releasing music, the distributer I used required a label name, and I thought BikkoMusic sounded catchy. Overtime, Bikko grew as we added people to our friend group, and the significance of the term grew too. I love those guys to death, and they have always been avid supporters of NAMOS and even made it onto Yeezys for Christmas. They feel more like brothers at this point, and I payed homage to them in the label logo, with the 3 main stars representing the OG members, and the constellation points representing everyone else in Bikko.
What genre is NAMOS? And what artist influences have you had?
I could complicate this answer to the ends of the earth, but to keep it short and sweet, Indie Pop. Michael Jackson was always an influential artist for me growing up, but I enjoy loads of different genres and the artists that fall into them like Alex G, Beach House, Phoebe Bridgers, Frank Ocean, and Vampire Weekend to name a few.
